of Bern in Switzerland
.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.4% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.9%. 26.0% of the total land area is heavily forested and 3.8% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 9.2% is used for growing crops and 25.5% is pastures, while 2.2% is used for orchards or vine crops and 27.9% is used for alpine pastures.
The municipality is located on a terrace on the southern slope of the Jura Mountains
and includes the village of Farnern and scattered farm houses.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP
which received 52.5% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS
(16.4%), the Green Party
(10%) and the FDP
(8.3%).
The age distribution of the population is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 23.1% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 59.3% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 17.6%.
