 executive body that implements the state policy on migration and performing law enforcement functions, functions for control, supervision and provision of public services in the field of migration. Currently, the jurisdiction of the Russian Interior Ministry. Russian Federal Migration Service in its current form was created by Presidential Decree of July 19, 2004 № 928 "Issues of the Federal Migration Service".
From 1 January 2006 established the territorial organs of FMS of Russia, bringing together departments of passport and visa service and divisions of Immigration Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the conclusion of a separate structure of direct subordination. Director of the Russian Federal Migration Service is currently Colonel-General Konstantin Romodanovsky Police Officer. In the years 1992-1999 director was Mrs. Tatyana Regent.
