Encyclopedia
Feitsui or Feicuei Dam spans the Xindian River
in northern Taiwan
, southeast of the city of Taipei
. It is one of two major reservoirs supplying water to the Taipei-Tamsui-Taoyuan region, the other being Shimen Dam
to the west. The dam was built almost exclusively for municipal water supply, although it also generates 70 MW of electricity. The dam is owned by Taipei City and was completed in 1984.
The dam is 122.5 metres (401.9 ft) high and 510 metres (1,673.2 ft) long with a hydraulic head
of 113.5 metres (372.4 ft). The elevation is 172.5 metres (565.9 ft). There are eight radial gates for the spillway
, a tunnel spillway, and three sets of sluice gates for the dam with a combined release capacity of 9870 m3/s. The forebay for the dam is 33 metres (108.3 ft) high.

Spillway
