as 'Fyle's gyffe', later, 'Felagh's cliff' from the Old Norse.
It is about four miles south-west of Ripley
and seven miles from Knaresborough
, close to the village of Hampsthwaite outside the spa town of Harrogate
. The parish includes the village of Kettlesing and part of the US intelligence-gathering base at Menwith Hill. Kettlesing Felliscliffe Community Primary School is located in the village
The parish served the nearby Fountains Abbey
