Leaving his home in Rio De Janeiro in 1959, Da Silva concluded a decade as an in-house talent for J. Walter Thompson, McCann-Erickson and Grand Advertising in Brazil. Working as a studio illustrator and a freelance artist in the US, the artist's work appeared regularly in Playboy, Encyclopædia Britannica, World Book Encyclopedia, the Chicago Tribune and other print venues. on the Marlboro Man
ad campaign. Da Silva also is responsible for illustrating the William Wrigley Jr. “Fun Facts” campaign, annual report covers for Caterpillar Tractor and International Harvester, and several syndicated color comic strips including Rex Morgan, M.D.
