Filmistan, فلمستان (Nastaleeq)) was a film production company and film studio of Indian film industry from Goregaon
, Mumbai
. It is located very near to Patkar College on SV road spread over seven acres. Many students have claimed to see superstars in the studio. Patkar College's reputation has increased due to this studio. It was founded in 1943-44 by producer Shashadhar Mukherjee, who came out of Bombay Talkies
after director Himansu Rai's death. Mukherjee brought talents like actor Ashok Kumar
and director Gyan Mukherjee along with him. Filmistan produced a number of successful hit movies in 1940s and 1950s. However the owners of the 65 plus year old studio Kamanwala Housing Constructions Limited (KHCL) and Aspen Properties are finalizing a deal with a real estate developer to sell the property. This closure has led to an emotional letdown for film industry
