 as Voin the Louhi was known in Finnish service as M-1 until 1936. The ship was built as a minelayer but was not particularly good in it with its slow speed, bad seakeeping qualities and poor storage space. During peacetime Louhi or M-1 was used as depot ship with its storage rooms refitted as crew quarters.

Sinking was thought to have been caused by Louhi running into a mine but later it was revealed that U-370 launched at passing enemy ships two acoustic homing G7es torpedo
