origin, Fiona was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey
after her parents moved from Dublin to the United States
. Brought up in a traditional Irish Catholic family, from childhood Fiona felt drawn to traditional Irish music and learned to play the clarinet at school. Even when she was offered a grant to attend the University School of Drama in New York, she chose a musical career instead.
