FELS is considered one of the top high schools in Bulgaria, esp. in the communist era when sons and daughters of functionaries were admitted in it. Over 90% of its graduates pursue their higher education in highly ranked schools and universities in Bulgaria, the EU and the US.

Administration

Ms. Bonka Bachvarova was the school's principal for many years. She was later replaced in that capacity by Ms. Nely Georgieva. The acting principal is Ms. Nely Petrova.

Musical activities

The school is especially acknowledged for its orchestra and chorus, tirelessly examining its scores like the Saints go marching in
