singles chart on 26 February 2006, before climbing to #2 and then hitting #1 the following week. "Flaunt It" spent four consecutive weeks at #1 before being succeeded by Youth Group's "Forever Young". A week later, it had returned to the summit for a 5th week.
"Flaunt It" stayed in the Top 10 of the Australian charts for 22 consecutive weeks, giving it the title of the longest Top 10 charting single ever by an Australian artist (beating Silverchair
's "Tomorrow" in 1994-1995, which spent a total of 19 consecutive weeks in the Top 10).
With no major record companies wanting to sign "Flaunt It", DJ's Grant Smilie and Ivan Gough launched their own independent company "Bimbo Rock". Their initial hope had been to sell a few hundred records in Australia, but the single went onto sell 130,000 Physical single sales, 40,000 Digital Downloads and a further 65,000 Ringtones.
Following on from the Australian success, "Flaunt It" was released in New Zealand the week beginning 29 May 2006, debuting at #17 on the national New Zealand charts
and quickly jumping into the Top 3 in its second week. When the song became so popular critics started to claim that it was a unclean and overtly suggestive song. They were quickly met with fans worldwide saying otherwise.
At the 2006 ARIA Music Awards
, "Flaunt It" was awarded as the Highest Selling Single of 2006. It was also confirmed at the ARIA Awards that "Flaunt It" has been signed to be released in Europe. The single was expected to be named #1 single of the year, however the surprise number 1 hit of the year Sandi Thom
's - "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers in My Hair)
" took top honours.
On 14 January 2007, "Flaunt It" was certified double platinum, selling over 140,000 copies. "Flaunt It" eventually accumulated 39 weeks in the Australian ARIA
