A 1999 graduate of Colegio Universitario Central (Mendoza, Argentina) Szigetei was a member of the Mendoza de Regatas swim club. She earned a silver medal at the 2003 Pan American Games in the 100 m freestyle, setting a South American long course record in the process (55.92). She also became the South American champion in the 100 m freestyle in 2000, while second in the 200 m freestyle. Szigeti represented Argentina at the 1999, 2001 and 2003 World Championships, and the 1999 and 2003 Pan American Games.
