There were 951 households out of which 36.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were married couples
living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.9% were non-families. 21.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 90.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.0 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $54,893, and the median income for a family was $61,406. Males had a median income of $45,577 versus $32,232 for females. The per capita income
for the village was $22,138. About 5.5% of families and 7.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.7% of those under age 18 and 3.5% of those age 65 or over.
During the 19th century, the community was settled by a wave of Polish immigrants. They followed earlier settlers who were mostly Yankee migrants from New England, arriving after the Native American population had declined. Today the village is predominantly Polish-American.
