Cadet Life

Boarding students live with 1 or 2 roommates depending on the size of the room. Each has twin beds, desks, swivel chairs and closets. Students are allowed to have a footlocker for additional storage. Students may use the school's linens or provide their own.

Boarding students arise at 7:30 A.M. They have breakfast at the dining hall until 8:15. All dormitories are inspected in the morning to ensure cleanliness. Students may meet with their teachers from 8:30 to 8:55 for any individual help they may need. All students must be on campus by 8:55 to attend class at 9 A.M.

The school day is made up of six class periods, with a five minute passing period between each class. The last class ends at 2:45 and is followed by an "activity period," which varies from day to day, Monday through Thursday. Students may participate in bi-weekly "focus groups" such as drama, journalism, photography, LEGO Builders, card games, surf/skate, street hockey, basketball, academic extra help, Spanish films, environmental club, etc. Boarding students are given the option of going home for the weekend, and can take bus shuttles to various parts of Florida, or stay on campus. If the student stays on campus, a variety of activities are planned for the students. Activities include trips to area theme parks, visits to the local beach, ice skating, bowling, and daily trips to the mall.
