History
The school was built in 1967 and has had many expansions since then, including a state-of-the-art auditorium. The school was formerly called "Floyd Central Junior-Senior High School" until the opening of Highland Hills Middle School in 2004. The classrooms are on average 150 square feet (13.9 m²) smaller than average classrooms. The renovation is planned to bump Floyd Central's enrollment capacity from 1,750 to 2,200 students. Along with the new classrooms, the project calls for construction of a new football stadium. The old stadium has been torn down to provide Marching Band students with a practice field during marching band season, and it will be used as parking lot when the marching band season is over. The new stadium will be built next to the baseball and soccer fields, across the street from the school. The main gym will also see a slight renovation as the flooring will be resurfaced. Along with the resurfacing, the floor designs will be modified to look more appropriate. FCHS is currently a one-story school, which will also change with construction. The school also operates WNAS-TV
