Li finally meets his father and older brother in town but their reunion is an unhappy one. Li has never been properly educated since he was a child and behaves like a hooligan. Besides, his older brother and his stepmother despise him for his background. Faced with constant prejudice and bullying from his family, Li has no choice but to flee from home. Before leaving, his father passes him the manual of the "Little Li Flying Dagger" technique and tells him to practise the skill. His mother left him with an embroidered purse that contains a treasure map. Li finds the treasure and roams the jianghu
with his wealth to help the poor and uphold justice with his newly mastered skills.
Throughout his adventures, Li is entangled in romantic relationships with two maidens. The first, Xue Caiyue, is a sworn enemy of his family as his father killed her father, Xue Qingbi, in a duel years before they were born. The other, Fang Keke, is indebted to him after he changes her life from that of a beggar to a rich girl. Meanwhile, his two best friends also play significant roles in shaping his path. Zhao Chuan is kind and compassionate towards him but he is also secretly in love with Fang. Zhang Zhen is scheming and ungrateful and he exploits Li to achieve his aims of becoming the wealthiest man in town.

Plot
Li Huai is the illegitimate son of the famous aristocrat and pugilist Li Manqing. His grandfather is the highly-revered "Little Li Flying Dagger" Li Xunhuan. However, he has never met his father before as he is raised by his mother far away from home.
