Focus Multimedia was founded in 1995 in England by Craig Johnson and Lawrence Reeves. It is a consumer software publisher that mostly distributes its products in the UK and Ireland, but also exports to English-speaking countries worldwide.

In 2007 Focus Multimedia began publishing casual games. A UK licensing deal was struck with PopCap Games, developer of the Bejeweled match 3 game.
In 2009 Focus announced a UK licensing deal with another casual games studio, Big Fish Games, the developer of Mystery Case Files.
In 2010 Focus announced an expansion into the full price games market thanks to a new multi-title publishing deal with Russia’s leading publisher, 1C Company
. The first title to be released was King's Bounty: Armored Princess, in March 2010.
In a marked departure from its previously published products, in December 2010 Focus launched its first mobile Apps for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad; Theory Test - Driving Test Success and Hazard Perception - Driving Test Success.
Craig Johnson revealed in a 2011 interview that Focus is planning to add a new range of mobile device and smartphone accessories to its portfolio.
