and a shopping centre with a variety of shops, take away food outlets and two restaurants. It has two supermarkets. One is Sainsbury's Local, which opened in November 2007 replacing Kwik Save
, and the other is Nisa. Forest Hall also has a large Health Centre where minor surgery can be carried out.
Forest Hall is served by two Metro stations. Benton Metro station (about a half mile from the centre of Forest Hall) and Palmersville Metro Station (approximately a mile away).

For further education there is Longbenton Community College in Benton. This college provides a wide variety of Courses for the whole community to enjoy both via the usual night classes and also as an added extra a great many day classes. There is also George Stephenson High School to the north in Killingworth, this school is well known around the area and was praised by Ofsted for its 'Outstanding features'.
