Etymology

It is believed that the settlement's name derives from the word fran, which means bush

History

The settlement was supposedly founded before the 14th century when Stefan Dušan was crowned emperor and controlled the majority of the Balkan Peninsula, as evidenced by the settlement's etymology.

Much of the settlement's population migrated to nearby Greece
