In second edition AD&D, fremlins first appear in the Greyhawk Monstrous Compendium (1990) under the "gremlin" entry, which was reprinted in the Monstrous Manual (1993), again under the "gremlin" entry. The fremlin was detailed as a player character race in The Complete Book of Humanoids (1993).
