 created in 2002 that sells robotic pets. The robotic toys range from guinea pigs, to dinosaurs. They also come in many different sizes, from being able to be held in a child's hand, to being able to be ridden by a child. And, of course, the prices range; from $7.00 to $300.00. All of the toys move in some way, making the toy more lifelike. The FurReal Friends slogan is, They love you for real, FurReal Friends

Rise in Popularity

One of FurReal's first toys to be produced, the FurReal Cat, was a huge hit during the 2002 holiday season, becoming scarce at some toy retailers.

In 2006, the Butterscotch Pony became a popular toy during the 2006 holiday season. Hasbro has added a second pony since called the S'Mores FurReal Friends Pony. Features include realistic animation, movement, "whinney" and snorting sounds, and reaction to touch or talk.

. There is also the Baby Dinosaur Triceratops "Kota" who is three feet tall and can be ridden as well. It featured many touch activated sensors on the horns, chin, belly, tail, mouth, and face. It also will roar when you do, and when left alone will go to sleep and snore (while mimicking the motion) till it slowly drifts off to sleep. It also features an adventure mode when it plays four different audio tracks when ridden.

Hasbro recently announced for 2009 a FurReal Friends special edition Elephant named Zambi. He was created to help children who have been orphaned by AIDS in Africa. The artwork for ZAMBI's ears, feet and bracelet was created in part by some of these children, and 50% of the profits will go to a charity to help these children.
