. It is mountainous town at 36°55′N 34°22′E with an altitude of 1200 metres (3,937 ft). It is 46 kilometres (28.6 mi) from Mersin. Situated among pine forests it is a popular summer resort. (Mountain resort towns are usually called yayla

) Traditionally, people from Mersin used to spend their summer vacations in Fındıkpınarı. Although the yayla tradition is on the decline, the town has now a settled population of 3493 as of 2010.

On 15 December 1954, Fındıkpınar was declared village and in 1993 the village was declared township .
