The application has an integrated scheduler to start the backup automatically without user intervention even if the PC is sleeping. GRBackPro can be installed as a Windows service to have the backups start even if no users are logged in. It also gives the user the option to back up the Windows registry and to compress backed-up files using the zip standard compression.

Description

What normally happens if you are unable to access your data because your hard disk is dead? Pain. Most probably you have never thought to run a backup of your data. GRBackPro is a Windows data-backup program that helps you prepare for and recover from data loss. Using GRBackPro, you can define multiple backup sessions: you can back up a whole disk, a single folder or just a few files. The integrated scheduler will cause your backup to start automatically without your intervention even if your PC is in stand-by. GRBackPro supports network, floppy, hard drives, DVD-RW, CD-RW and all removable hard drives (but no tapes). Windows Volume Shadow Copy is supported so that you will be able to back up opened and locked files. GRBackPro will handle long path names up to 1024 characters. Unicode file names are supported even within zip archives. You can span multiple destination disks so that you can easily build a multi disk backup set. A split mode will permit you to easily burn DVDs after the backup has been completed (this is a fast alternative to using packet write software drives). A history mode will keep as many backup copies as you want.

There is an integrated restore facility to easily restore your files or whole backups, which will also quickly maintain two or more PC in alignment (Synchronization). You can execute one or more tasks before and/or after the backup. You can, for example, stop services that are locking files you want to back up and then restart them when the backup is completed. You can close an application, start a program, start and stop a service, pause the backup, issue a message box, end a process or send an email. This last facility lets you have your backup log report sent to your mailbox if any error has been found in the backup. There is a Registry backup option which can be saved locally (for an easy manual restore) or on the destination disk. Automatic software update facility allows you to receive and install any program updates.

GRBackPro is a fully featured backup software with many professional options built to solve any data backup problem and suitable also for inexperienced users because it integrates a Backup Wizard that guides the user in setting up the program option.

Review

The release of version 7.x of GRBackPro - Professional Backup software adds some exciting new features. The software is available in both Workstation and Server versions, enabling data backup in a small to medium sized network. With this new release, GRSoftware introduces Service administration featuring user access control of specific groups and/or users. Also featured is a new administrative dialog, displayed when a backup is running in Service mode. Email sending now supports SSL/TLS so that email can be sent to, for example, gmail.com accounts. Another new feature is the conditional backup execution based on paths available, user input and CPU load. These new features facilitate the customization of backup software solutions.
