, she won a gold medal in the women's 200 m freestyle, along with four other East Germans, a gold medal in the women's 4×100  medley relay, in another team of four swimmers, a gold medal in the women's 4×100 m freestyle relay, and a gold medal in the women's 100 m freestyle.

In 1972, she competed in the women's 100 m freestyle, the women's 4×100 m medley relay, and the women's 4×100 m freestyle relay, where her team, once again, won the silver medal.

In 1973, she completed her career and began a medical degree, later graduating with an economics degree as well.
