Gadhinglaj is situated on banks of Hiranyakeshi river originated from the Great Amboli Ghats.

It is headed by a Municipal President who is assisted by municipal chief officer and council members. (MAHADISCOM).
In 2008 Gadhinglaj was one of the First Taluka in India to initiate Energy conservation
Programme by utilizing Solar energy for its Street Lights.
