The degree programs offered at Galen University in Belize fall under the University of Indianapolis accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Admitted students receive a University of Indianapolis transcript and diploma upon satisfactory completion of coursework and degree requirements.

Galen traveled extensively to broaden his knowledge. He studied more, and conducted research in Smyrna, Corinth and Alexandria. Through observation, dissection, and experimentation, Galen greatly expanded what was known about the anatomy and physiology of the human body. He was an excellent clinician. He was interested in therapeutic plants and their uses. Galen University is partnered to offer University of Indianapolis degree programs in Belize in Anthropology, Archaeology, Business, International Business, Economics and Environmental Science. These degree programs follow University of Indianapolis academic guidelines and offer enhanced coursework. Completion of an introductory course in Sustainable Development is required in all programs. Galen University incorporates sustainability across the curriculum and on campus. Students graduating with the preceding majors earn degrees from both universities. Applied Research
Galen University has an applied research and development institute (GUARD) engaged in sustainable social, cultural, environmental, political and economic development projects. GUARD works with Central American and Caribbean government departments, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and the private sector to address a variety of social and environmental issues. Galen University offers technical assistance and coordination services to these organizations. A university-wide approach is taken through the use of faculty, staff and students trained for data collection and data entry. This extension of Galen’s resources creates learning opportunities and facilitates the power of networking with other worldwide institutions or organizations.GUARD also:
- Helps project implementers seek funding from foreign organizations engaged in research or development work.
- Offers results-based management training to achieve agreed upon results.
- Promotes project coordination among participants and focuses on the needs of the natural environment and of low-income entrepreneurial individuals towards those of other low income community members.
- Develops collective action organizations to be owned and controlled by project beneficiaries where their initiatives require personal, community and environmental sustainability.
