Galesville is located where Beaver Creek flows into a wide area of the Mississippi River
valley. The creek is impounded to form Lake Marinuka.

There were 606 households out of which 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.7% were married couples

In the city the population was spread out with 24.5% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
