Gan Ner is a communal settlement
in northern Israel
. Located near the Green Line
to the south of Afula
, it falls under the jurisdiction of Gilboa Regional Council
. In 2007 the population was 2,800.
The village was founded in 1987 by a group of families from nearby moshav
im, and was named after Lord Barnett Janner. In 1995 a new neighborhood was constructed in the community.
It is home to the Hapoel Gilboa Galil Elyon
basketball club, which was formed in 2008. The club will play at a 1,000-seat arena in the village.
