Career
Dr Nana has 20 years work experience in the field of economics, firstly working as a researcher at the Project on Economic Planning at the Victoria University of Wellington. Thereafter he went to England where he gained ‘hands-on’ experience of the UK Treasury and the OECD Multimod models, simulating the impacts of policy changes and shocks working in the House of Commons and, later, for Oxford Economic Forecasting Ltd. Following this he returned to New Zealand where he became a tutor and lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington. He also undertook some sub-contract work for Business and Economic Research Ltd (BERL). BERL have been providing economic advice to public and private sector clients since 1958. He was offered a full-time job by BERL in 1998 which he gladly accepted and has been working for them full-time ever since. He is one of their most senior economists and is known by others as "the numbers man". Due to his experience, lately he has been the media face of BERL.
