Return to Carlisle
On 28 March 2010, Madine came on as a substitute in Carlisle's 1–4 loss to Southampton in the Johnstones Paint Trophy Final. He scored his second goal for Carisle in over 50 games in front of 70,000. The consolation goal came in the 84th minute, with a front post header, after only being on the field for 11 minutes. Madine continued to improve by scoring the winner against Brighton in the 88th minute. Madine followed this up with another headed goal in the 69th minute against Oldham in a 2–1 loss. Madine managed to score yet another goal against Southampton in a 3–2 loss. Madine completed his fine goalscoring run by scoring in the first minute against champions Norwich CityNorwich City F.C.
