On December 12, 2007 Justice Stein was appointed a Trustee
of the Tropicana Casino and Resort Atlantic City by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission
after the commission denied the license renewal of Adamar of New Jersey the owner of the Tropicana and their parent company Columbia Sussex Corporation
, He will oversee the day to day operations of the casino/hotel until a new owner can be found.
On December 19, 2007 the New Jersey Casino Control Commission appointed Stein to serve as Conservator of the Tropicana Casino and Resort in addition to being trustee. Since his retirement from the bench, Justice Stein has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers School of Law - Newark.
