 includes Donna, Admiral Fitzwallace, Congresswoman Wyatt and a few members of congress as they sort through the thicket of rival issues between the Palestinians and Israelis—but the killing fields soon claim some of the delegation when a deadly bomb shatters their vehicle and has the President considering targets for military action. In flashbacks, Donna is attracted to a dashing Irish photojournalist who opens her eyes to the conditions faced by inhabitants in the area.

The victims of the bombing include Congressmen Korb and DeSantos; James Holtman, a legal aide to DeSantos; and Fitzwallace. Donna is severely injured; consequently, she is flown to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center
