Genohm is a well established bioinformatics company with offices in Belgium and Switzerland . Genohm has around 20 employees divided over its two offices.
Genohm started in 2002 as Biorebel, with technology developed at the University of Ghent. Under this name, biolinux, an rpm repository of frequently used bioinformatics packages and biotorrent, a distribution mechanism for distributing biological databases, were developed. The name of the company was changed to Genohm in 2005. In the same year seqpad was released, a visualization and annotation framework for biological sequences, together with treeillustrator, a package for visualizing phylogenetic information. After a period of consulting projects, the company entered the LIMS and ELN market with SLims in 2009.
SLims, developed in collaboration with EPFL, is a combination of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Electronic Lab Notebook. The Slims software was mainly developed for usage in domains like cell and systems biology, translational medicine, genomics, proteomics, NGS, ...
Genohm has projects running at both universities and companies, such as Nestlé, EPFL, University Hospitals, VIB,etc.
