Gentle Friendly

Gentle Friendly are a London-based band consisting of David Maurice (vocals, keyboards) and Daniel Boyle (drums, keyboards). They play noisy music that was described as "kaleidoscopic claustrophonics" and "as arresting as it was evasive". The pair, originally from Birmingham, had previously played in the bands The Reverends, Shocked Elevator Family, An Alphabet and Johnny Foreigner
respectively. Boyle also played in London based bands Banjo or Freakout, Buttonhead and Hundreds Tens and Units.
Gentle Friendly formed in 2007 whilst the pair attended university in London. Morris found a discarded drum kit in a skip along with a large amount of high quality coffee and after several caffeine-fueled sessions in his basement the pair began to play live. They went on to play internationally, supporting such bands as Health

Early lo-fi basement recordings were sold at shows on home-made cdrs and released on the Esses Together/Blast Debris (Debris from Blasts Had 1968 - 2008) cassette by Stop Scratching in October '08. The following month No Pain In Pop released the Night Tape e.p., recorded in a remote cottage on the Wales/Shropshire border, on 7". Their newest record, Ride Slow, wa released by Upset The Rhythm in November '09.
