History

Geordie Shore was commissioned in January 2011. In June 2011, two summer specials based in Magaluf

 were announced as well as a reunion special.

On 25 August 2011 it was announced that Geordie Shore had been recomissioned for a second series, the next series is extended to an eight episode run and is set to air in early 2012.
The reunion of Geordie Shore was also a way to catch up with the cast to see how their lives had changed during the series.

Reception

In a column for metro.co.uk, Christopher Hooton described the show as "a gaudy kaleidoscope of six packs, shots, fights, simulated fellatio and exposed breasts," but said that criticism of the show was futile given its intent, noting that "being shocked by the lasciviousness of Geordie Shore is like being shocked by the lack of nutrition in a Pot Noodle."

Cast

The cast members were revealed in April 2011. They are Gary Beadle, Charlotte-Letitia Crosby, Jay Gardner, Holly Hagan, Greg Lake, Vicky Pattison, Sophie Kasaei and James Tindale. Holly left in the third episode, and returned in the fifth. Greg Lake left the show and decided not to return for series two. A new cast member, called Rebecca Walker, was spotted out with the rest of the cast as well as another unnamed cast member.
