George Best was a member of the second and third Martin Frobisher
voyages in positions of importance; as Frobisher's lieutenant on the second and as captain of the Anne Francis on the third. Little is known of the man before these voyages but he appears to have had close ties with Sir Christopher Hatton
who, in turn, had ties with Queen Elizabeth I.
His writings, which encompass the three voyages, are important because of the scope and accuracy of his observations. Richard Hakluyt
made extensive use of Bests writings in his work covering the Frobisher voyages.
He was killed in a duel
