George John Sandys was a British

politician.
Sandys was educated at Clifton College
and Pembroke College, Oxford
. He served in the South African War (1899 - 1901) and in the British Expeditionary Force in the First World War, during which he was wounded. He was Member of Parliament for Wells
from 1910 to 1918. He later joined the diplomatic service (1921-1925). He died in Antibes
, France.
His son Duncan Sandys
became a member of parliament and cabinet minister, and his granddaughter Laura Sandys
, also a Conservative politician, was elected to represent South Thanet in 2010.
