Geum quellyon

Geum quellyon, commonly called Scarlet avens. Chilean avens, or Grecian rose, is a perennial herb of the Rosaceae family, native to the Central Region of Chile.
It has been used in the traditional medicine of the Mapuche Amerindians of Chile to treat tooth neuralgia, gastric inflammation, prostatitis and to regulate menstruation.
The methanolic extract is obtained from the root of Geum quellyon. The methanolic extract contains tannin compounds, and tannins have been shown to have antitumor activity.
Cultivars include 'Mrs Bradshaw'.

Cultivation
It is commonly cultivated as a garden ornamental, and in that context is sometimes called Geum chiloense.Cultivars include 'Mrs Bradshaw'.
