Giannitsochori is a village located in the municipality of Zacharo
to its east southeast in the southern part of the prefecture of Ilia. Giannitsochori is accessed with a road linking to GR-9

(Pyrgos - Kyparissia). Giannitsochori is famous for its beaches and also have hotels and campgrounds including Apollo. It is located about 45 km ESE of Pyrgos, about 30 km S of Olympia

is to its west. Further east are the mountains.
Giannitsochori has beaches to its west while farmlands are in the central part with a few forests. The mountains lie to the east.

, a dead whale washed up to its beaches near Giannitsochori. The length is between 4 and 5 m. A few people were behind the scene telling them including the reporters what happened in Giannitsochori Beach. It happened in the early to mid part of the day. The dead whale was positioned at approximately at 40 to 45° at the shoreline and as far as 2 m inland.

The entire population prior to the late-20th century were entirely rural and were also farmers. Today, they still form a part of the population of the settlement while tourism is also the main industry.
