On the 2008 Rewind, Gross flew into Chicago to be live in the WLS studios. Videos can be seen of the WLS Rewind on YouTube with the 2008 video show Gross and Landecker cutting up on the air.

Gross was the main substitute host for Paul Harvey
on the radio show Paul Harvey's News & Comment. In March 2009, Gross was chosen as a possible successor to Harvey. New owners Citadel Broadcasting, who bought ABC Radio from Disney in 2008, chose Mike Huckabee
instead but the show lasted only one week before it was taken off the air.
