Glen Afton New Zealand is an ex coal mining town that is now just a rural village with some houses and very few services or amenities. There is one large and one small open cast coal mines still operating in the area.

. Huntly is about 14 km and 15 minutes drive from Glen Afton. The region is the Waikato and the nearest city is Hamilton NZ.

Glen Afton has a Dairy (Store) and a Club Rooms (The Blue Room). There is a Primary School at Pukemiro (The next Village).

There was a mining disaster at Glen Afton in 1939. Glen Afton mine, Huntly, 24 September 1939: 11 men were asphyxiated by carbon monoxide.

The roads in the area are good and mostly sealed. There is no public transport.

Land and House prices are quite cheap because of Glen Aftons location and the lack of amenities and services. Also Rates (Land Taxes) are quite mild as again there is little in the way of facilities.
