Buildings
The 23 acres (93,077.8 m²) campus includes five different buildings: the upper school, the lower school, the gymnasium/stage called Bramaer, the computer lab/health center, and a historic green house that was refurbished in 2009. GUS also includes an outdoor classroom and a nature trail that runs through the long stretch of woods behind the school.
Teaching
Nicknamed GUS for short, Glen Urquhart runs from grades K through 8. The school has around 230 students with approximately 22 children in each lower school (K-5) classroom and 34 students (divided into two sections) in each upper school (6-8) grade. The school has at least two credentialed teachers in each K-5 classroom. Spanish culture and language instruction is offered in all grades, beginning in kindergarten. Service learning projects beginning in kindergarten and culminating in an eighth grade work week teach students about their global and community responsibilities. The outdoor classroom, nature trail, and large greenhouse provide settings for environmental and science study. Computer classes prepare the students for the rapidly changing technology. Dance and music classes are provided in all grades, as well as drama classes in upper school, however there are no dance classes in 6th and 7th grades. Also, in 7th and 8th grades, Art is only provided once a week for one half of the year.
