who competed from the mid 1950s to the mid 1960s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal in the single sculls event at Tokyo

Kottmann won a bronze medal in the four-man bobsleigh event at the 1960 FIBT World Championships
in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
He drowned in the Rhine River while taking part in a military exercise.
