Gowkthrapple is a small suburb of Wishaw
, Scotland
. Gowkthrapple can be entered off of the Castlehill Road which runs the length of the estate. Formerly an industrial area, associated with the Pather Iron and Steel Works and then Smith's clock factory, which opened in 1951. This closed in the 1970s, although the premises remain standing on Smith Avenue and have been reused as Garrion Business Park.
. However the area is set to improve in the coming years with the private homes built to give the area a more mixed feel. Residents of Lanarkshire colloquially refer to the area as 'Gowky'.
At the bottom of Castlehill Road there is a burger van which has been resident for many years and it is run by Jimmy & Wilma.
There are also several children's play areas within the scheme which include items such as swings, roundabouts, and chutes however in keeping with the rest of the area, they are usually extremely run-down.
A farm used to be located on Gowkthrapple's border with Pather
, however, this is no longer used and it is now empty fields.
There is a speed camera located half-way along the main (Castlehill) road towards Motherwell.
a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the southeast. The majority of residents of High School age will attend this school.
Any residents who are of the Catholic faith will attend Saint Aidan's High School based in the main part of Wishaw
. This is roughly a half hour walk from the scheme therefore the majority of its pupils from Gowkthrapple will travel to the school via bus

Gowkthrapple's housing predominately consisted of tower blocks. The largest of these towers built in the 1970s were up to 13 floors high whereas several of the buildings had 4 floors.
