He was pre-selected to run in the 2010 State Election, at which he ousted the sitting member, Robert Einar "Bob" Stensholt of the Australian Labor Party at the general election.

He was elected on the 27th of November 2010, and was formally sworn in on the 2nd of December 2010.

Early life

Watt was born in Western Australia, where he grew up in public housing with his ten sisters. Before moving to Victoria, Watt graduated from Edith Cowan University, obtaining a Bachelor of Business, and majoring in Finance and Economics. He has since been the owner of a mobile phone retail store and a carpet cleaning business.

Politics

Watt unsuccessfully ran for the Liberal Party in 2002 and 2006 in the electoral district of Northcote

Mr Watt said Those campaigns were really about learning and gaining the most experience I could.

Personal life

He lives in Ashburton with his wife and two children.

Watt is also engaged with multiple community organisations, such as the Eastern Lions Soccer Club in his electoral district and as a member of his children's school's Parents and Friend's Association. In 2009 he was preselected as the Liberal candidate for the electorate of Burwood, which he won in at the November 2010 state election, ousting Labor,s Bob Stensholt.
