 portion of Grand Prairie. The district boasts 36 campuses, including 23 elementary schools, seven middle schools, two ninth grade centers, two high schools and two alternative education schools. The District employs more than 2,900 staff members and offers a variety of services and programs designed to help students radiate success.

To attend a GPISD school, kindergarten children must be five years old on or before September 1 of the current school year. Special early childhood programs are available for children ages 3-5 who are handicapped or developmentally delayed, and for infants from birth to age two who are blind or deaf.

Students entering GPISD from other accredited schools are admitted at the level authorized by individual transcripts. A student enrolling in Grand Prairie schools must be a resident of the GPISD and must provide satisfactory proof of residency and required immunizations. Elementary students attend school from 8:10 a.m. – 3:20 p.m. Middle school students attend school from 8:45 a.m. – 3:55 p.m. High school students attend school from 7:35 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
