Great Midwest Athletic Conference

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) is a college athletic conference which operates in the Great Lakes
and East South Central States
regions of the United States
. It participates in the NCAA
's Division II, and is scheduled to begin play in the 2013-14 academic year pending NCAA approval and lifting of Division II's moratorium on new conference membership.
, Urbana, and Ursuline met to discuss plans for a new Division II conference. Urbana became a active Division II member in 2010, with the other three schools in the process of transitioning to the NCAA from the NAIA
. Soon after, Central State joined the initial members; and in October 2011, Kentucky Wesleyan announced the school will join leave their current conference, the Great Lakes Valley Conference
(GLVC) to join the G-MAC. In November of 2011, Trevecca Nazarene University was accepted as a charter member of the conference. Trevecca began the process of transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II membership in July 2011 and the will enter provisional membership year during the conferences planned start for the 2013-14 academic year. November 2011 also saw Notre Dame College exit the G-MAC to persue membership in other conferences.

The initial announcement of a potential new conference surfaced in June 2011 when the presidents and athletic directors of Cedarville, Notre Dame CollegeNotre Dame College
