Greek National Road 67
Encyclopedia
The Greek National Road 67 (short or common GR-67 or Thessaloniki – Nea Moudania Motorway) is a highway or route that links the city of Thessaloniki
with Nea Moudania
and southern Chalkidiki. Since the opening of the Thessaloniki Ring, the road has been upgraded into a four-lane divided motorway (in most of its length) to Nea Kallikrateia and from then on it is a two-lane highway with interchanges, terminating in Nea Moudania.
The highway begins in Thessaloniki's southeast, at Konstantinos Karamanlis avenue in Kalamaria
and is joint with GR-16 for about 15 km. This part of the highway has been upgraded into a six-lane motorway and passes through Thessaloniki's southeast suburbs, forming a vital arterial for the city. As it continues past the airport interchange, it becomes a four-lane motorway, passing through the outer southeast suburbs of Thessaloniki. As it leaves the city, the motorway continues down the east coast of the Thermaic Gulf
, passing coastal towns and finally terminating at the Nea Kallikratia interchange. A two-lane highway then continues into Nea Moudania and from then on, roads feed access into the Kassandria and Sithonia
peninsulas, as well as to Ierissos and Ouranopoli in Chalkidiki's southeast.
