Greenbank was the first Specialist school to be designated in Sefton, and one of the earliest schools in the UK to be designated with a specialism in Modern Foreign Languages. Today it teaches (French and Spanish) to all KS3 pupils, and all pupils study at least one language to GCSE level. Other languages taught include German, Russian and Mandarin Chinese.
The school has an enviable sporting record supported by excellent facilities. A Large sports hall, gymnasium, fitness room, floodlit all-weather pitch, extensive playing fields and recently refurbished changing facilities are a feature of the school.
93% achieved 5 or more passes A*-C with 69% achieving 5 or more passes A*-C including Mathematics and English. Thirteen pupils gained straight A* and A grades in 10 or more subjects. In addition 75% of the girls achieved at least A*-C in a Modern Foreign Language. Value added data suggests that the pupils achieve results above those predicted by the ability of the pupils on entry. These are the best results in Southport schools and among the very best in Sefton LEA.

Admissions
Greenbank does not have a sixth form, taking girls only from the ages of 11-16. The uniform is bottle green, and consists of a green jumper, a white blouse or a newly introduced striped white and green blouse, and a green skirt (or green formal trousers). It is an eco-school at Bronze Award level. The school has a Pupil Leadership Team and a school council.
