for statistical purpose only, is an area consisting of three counties in Upstate South Carolina
, anchored mainly by the city of Greenville
as well as the smaller cities of Mauldin
and Easley
. As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 636,986, up 13.8% from 559,940 in the 2000 census.
