After hitting three goals in his first six games, the loan was extended until January 2011. He returned to Derby for two weeks before rejoining Telford for the remainder of the campaign on 31st January 2011. On May 11 2011, Derby announced that Mills would not be retained on completion of his contract in June 2011. On 15 May 2011, Mills played a part in Telford success in the Conference North play-off final playing for an hour in the 3-2 victory over Guisley
, victory resulted in promotion to the Conference National
. On 15 August 2011, Mills rejoined AFC Telford United on a one year contract. Mills scored on his second debut for Telford and his first Conference National game, a stoppage time consolation goal in a 2-1 defeat against Lincoln City
